Day 01: Start the adventure on your way to Castro

Welcome to Chile!

Upon arrival at the airport in Puerto Montt. Condor Travel staff will be waiting to take you to your hotel. Please find the sign with your last name.

Our trip to the big island of Chiloé will start from the moment we will get on the ferry to leave the mainland and sail to Chacao, the first port of Chiloé, from where we will head to the Lacuy peninsula to visit the Agüi fort and enjoy a small snack based on fresh seafood and a glass of white wine, welcome by a local family, to understand the importance of the local culture and its people when getting to know Chiloé.

After this stop, we will head to Puñihuil Bay, a secluded fishing cove that has managed to maintain its relationship with three islets that make up the only ecosystem in the world where two types of penguins live and nest: Humboldt and Magellanic penguins. We will embark on a 30-minute observation boat ride, where we will be able to admire other marine species such as otters, caracaras, cormorants, and sea lions. After the boat ride, a local lunch will be waiting for us in the bay. Then we will go to the city of Ancud and visit the Ex Convent of the Immaculate Conception where you can appreciate the restoration work of the Friends of the Churches of Chiloé Foundation, which will serve as an architectural and cultural introduction to this World Heritage Site. At the end of the tour, we will go to the city of Castro, and we will stop at the gamboa viewpoint, from where you will see the typical palafitos, if the arrival time is very late these two stops will be the first of the next day.

*It is suggested to consider flights that hopefully arrive around 8 or 9 in the morning, to consider the tour in transit.

Overnight in Castro

Meals included: Lunch

Day 02: Full-day tour of "Tradition and Chiloé culture".

This route will take you to know the cultural, agricultural, and religious heritage of Chiloé, visiting the towns of Dalcahue, Curacao de Vélez, and Achao, where you will visit the World Heritage churches of Dalcahue, Achao, and Quinchao, small but interesting museums, artisans and attractive gastronomy.

By taking the back roads you will understand why the FAO has recognized Chiloé as an Ingenious World Agricultural Heritage Site (GIAHS), the work of many generations of farmers who developed ingenious practices for the use and conservation of natural resources. An example is the cultivation of more than 200 varieties of native potatoes.

Overnight in Castro

Meals included: Breakfast and lunch

Day 03: Tour of Chepu and Muelle de la Luz (Pier of Light)

On this route, we will go directly to the sector of Chepu, where we will be waiting for 40-minute navigation in a local boat, in which we will first see a sunken forest after the earthquake of 60 in which we will have the opportunity to do birdwatching during that time, in addition to having a snack based on local products before disembarking on the beach in front of the Pacific Ocean. From this point, we will walk approximately 20 minutes to the Muelle de la Luz where we will have an extensive view of the ocean.

After sailing we will go to the farm of a local family where we will have a pleasant conversation and learn about the preparation of the traditional "Curanto al Hoyo", which will be the lunch of the day. We will also tour and learn a little more about life in the countryside and why Chiloé is a GIAHS, Ingenious System of World Agricultural Heritage, a denomination of FAO and UNESCO, whose meaning recognizes it as a site with unique agricultural and cultural characteristics in the world: "Being Chiloé an island, a fundamental reserve of agro-biodiversity is propitiated, an example of this are varieties of garlic and a huge variety of native potatoes, among other crops".

Overnight in Castro

Meals included: Breakfast and lunch

Day 04: Back to Puerto Montt

The route we propose below will take you to understand the reason for the great architectural, agricultural and cultural heritage that Chiloé possesses and which UNESCO, FAO, and other national and international organizations recognize as being of world importance.

Traveling along roads overlooking the inland sea, you will be able to appreciate the Chiloé architecture of tile roofs and World Heritage churches; agricultural fields, wetlands, and forests; artisans, shipyards, and fishermen; that make Chiloé a unique and different place.

Along with visiting the towns of San Juan, Tenaun, and Colo, we will cross to the "Island of the Navigating Souls", Aucar, named after the writer Francisco Coloane, whose town where he was born, Quemchi, we will visit the museum in his honor, and then continue to the airport of Puerto Montt, with the objective of arriving two hours before the passengers' flight.

*It is suggested to consider flights from 9:00 p.m. onwards, considering that you should arrive at the airport at 7:00 p.m.
